  • GLASGOW’s SUPER Tenements

Super Tenement is an original construction system consisting of a main structure on which prefabricated, interchangeable and replaceable facade elements and partitions are attached. These allow an optimal adaptation to the different spatial and population conditions according to respectively the orientation (north or south, street or nature), and the typological mix required. In addition, the generation of a Super Tenement takes as its axioms some constants: a half of building comprising north oriented technical equipment, nature-oriented balconies and street-oriented drone ports, as well as the dimension of these two elements adapting the number of modules occupied by their corresponding apartment. With regard to the drone ports, they are clearly displayed on the front: the drone becomes in this prospective future common visual and sound element of the urban sky, flying over the roads and taking part in the hubbub of the street. Made with grasshopper. project by Ziyad Ryser and Louhichi Younes El Mehdi STUDIO HUANG - EPFL

  • Rousseau’s Gate for Geneva (CH)

Programm: This is a temple inhabited by customers seeking a return to origins through inspiring, primary spaces. This temple is a maritime gateway to Geneva. Site: Rousseau’s Island is the last island of the lemanic Lake . Its position is central and allows, with the plot that links it to the city, an access to both shores of Geneva. Project: This project focuses as much on the use of materiality of the island (mineral) as on the creation of a strong morphology, dependent on its position in the city of Geneva and  the lemanic Lake. The creative process involves the generation of multiple mutations using stone assemblies while taking into account the history of the site. Experimentation on corbellin helped to create an exhibition of different possibilities and spaces generated by this assembly. the morphology is geometrically linked to circulation spaces. The whole building is a unique set of stairs. (cf: house malaparte) The project welcomes sailboats from the lemanic Lake. It pushes the scale change through its main space, the cave. It takes us human into a process. A process leading man from the scale of a community to the scale of an unique soul. The human can then take refuge in the shelter and be part of its internal community. • The Bonatti Bivouac (bivouatti)

The Bonati Bivouac (bivouatti) is a shelter for the A Neuve's glacier. The A Neuve's hut is a refuge at 2735m altitude that needs an extension of it's dormitories. The construction needed to be demountable and re-mountable due to the sites altitude. The wood construction system is related to vernacular swiss construction (Raccard) and allows, with a better insulation, to have the right shelter on these heights. This structure was constructed by 20 EPFL students from the studio EAST. The whole construction was made without any machine. We used Japanese saws and wood chisels. No metal, no screws and no nails. Everything is made in wood (exception made for the Hamac) For this structure we used a parametric software (grasshopper) to readapt the choices of form, general mensurations and wood plank mensuration to our project's evolution. The conception phase was made in 3 weeks, construction in 10days. There were no carpenters in our team, only architecture students. The project tries to relate to vernacular swiss construction and to express the perilous aspects of the A Neuve's site. It  also relates to Semper, a theoretical architect who had a fond feeling to the importance of the envelope in the "original huts". Here we tried to make a hut, only made by structure, where envelope becomes a structural object. The interesting aspect of the "joints" show's that structure and ornement can sometimes be in-dissociable. This was our first construction. • The Vidy’s Turtle Theatre (CH)

A parametric wood structure reflecting how modern architecture is leaning into the concept of biomimicry. the studying of structural assemblies nature offers, made us want to express the need to relate to nature and living beings. The work was done with our team: Adrien Blondel, Eric Nardini, Vianney Huart, Souheil Alami and André Dib Youn

  • Prisoner’s Hotel

This tower speaks about Latex membrane closing up space, creating multiple thresholds by inflating/deflating. Structure holding the membrane creates different active relations to guide the prisoner and his visitor/s to meet each other at critical moments. There are 6 inhabitable levels and one roof to guide the prisoner. 1st level is a public space, therefor opened to all visitors; the balloon gap is bigger.

  • Membrane deformations

"triptyque"; an image made of 3 different point of views separated by a cut through the building. made in blender and assembled in photoshop "Habiter Mars" at the EPFL. entirely made in Blender inspiration for the Project "Rousseau's Gate". made in blender and photoshop dome that holds on it's 4 extremities to fit inside a cubical space. It's purpose was to express the passage from mineral to metallic structures, following the experiences of Henri Labrouste on metal (Sainte Geneviève's Library in Paris). metallic structures inspired by Jean nouvel's Project of a Dome in Dubai . I used Grasshopper and blender. wood trunk construction. Made in blender spiritual works.
